Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust 

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides HIV and sexual health services from locations across London including, John Hunter Clinic, Kobler Clinic and the West London Centre. Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is Europe’s largest provider of HIV care. ‘56 Dean Street’, part of the Trust, is the UK’s largest sexual health clinic. Previously known as ‘The Victoria Clinic’ the service has won many national awards for its innovative work targeting gay men, young people and the Chinese community.

Dr Alan McOwan

Dr Alan McOwan is the Lead Doctor at 56 Dean Street. He was the senior doctor on the team which redesigned and relocated the Victoria Clinic to become 56 Dean Street in Soho. He developed the concept for Dean Street at Home, raised the funds and is the medical lead for the project. Alan writes a weekly sexual health advice column in Boyz Magazine. In 2010 the projects he has developed identified 1 in 17 of all the new cases of HIV diagnosed in the UK.

90TEN Healthcare

90TEN is an award-winning healthcare communications consultancy specialising in integrating PR, medical education and research techniques to deliver highly creative solutions. A winner of over 12 major industry awards, 90TEN has been working with Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (owners of 56 Dean Street) since 2002. Their work has focussed on reaching and mobilising patients.

Dr Thom

Dr Thom was founded in 2002 by Dr Thom Van Every. The online medical service is now owned by Lloyd’s pharmacy, providing a range of remote medical services to patients all over the country in partnership with NHS and private organisations.

Funding

Development of the Dean Street at Home project was supported by a joint working partnership agreement with Bristol Myers Squibb Pharmaceuticals Limited, the Chelsea and Westminster Health Charity and an unrestriction education grant from VIIV Healthcare.
